KUWAIT: Zain Kuwait announced the launch of the second edition of Sustainability Heroes, in collaboration with Nestlé Kuwait, INJAZ Al-Arab and INJAZ Kuwait. The initiative empowers university students with entrepreneurship skills to develop practical, sustainable solutions to pressing social and environmental challenges. The launch was announced at Zain’s HQ in Shuwaikh, attended by Tiziano Balmelli, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Kuwait, Waleed Al-Khashti, Chief Corporate Affairs and Relations Officer at Zain Kuwait, Salam Abdel Baki, General Manager at Nestlé Kuwait, and Laila Hilal Al-Mutairi, CEO of INJAZ Kuwait, alongside teams from the three entities.
Building on the impact of its first edition, Sustainability Heroes will empower 150 students with the tools and mentorship to turn ideas into scalable ventures, placing sustainable entrepreneurship at the core through hands-on learning and real-world project development. Sustainability Heroes runs in parallel with INJAZ’s annual Company Program competition, which Zain has supported for over 20 years through its strategic partnership with INJAZ. This collaboration reflects Zain’s continued commitment to developing young talent, strengthening career readiness and enabling the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Al-Khashti, Abdel Baki and Al-Mutairi announce the launch of the program’s second edition.
Commenting on the launch, Waleed Al-Khashti said: “This second edition is an extension of our longstanding partnership with INJAZ, and builds on last year’s strong engagement from students and partners. Our focus remains on empowering youth to translate ideas into projects with tangible economic, social and environmental impact.” He added: “We are pleased to continue welcoming Nestlé to this initiative, as it broadens students’ exposure to leading experiences and helps them build practical, scalable business models through innovation.”
Salam Abdel Baki said: “At Nestlé, we believe creating shared value begins with investing in people, especially young people. Through Sustainability Heroes, we aim to equip students to become real changemakers. We also learn from their bold ideas, because the future needs those who dare to think differently.” Laila Hilal Al-Mutairi commented: “The renewal of this collaboration reflects the success of the first year. Sustainability Heroes deepens sustainability concepts among university youth, while strengthening cooperation between private sector and educational institutions to support student ideas that address real challenges. It is not just a training initiative, it is a movement toward a better future.”
Under this partnership, Sustainability Heroes integrates with INJAZ’s Company Program to turn classroom learning into practical application, supported by mentorship from experts at Zain, Nestlé and INJAZ. Participants will also benefit from short interviews that may lead to internship opportunities at Zain Kuwait and Nestlé Kuwait, offering an added pathway to real workplace exposure.
