KUWAIT: Zain Kuwait supported the 47th Otorhinolaryngology Conference, organized by the Zain ENT Center in collaboration with the Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations (KIMS). This comes as part of Zain’s ongoing support for the Center’s activities, which continue to achieve milestone results across the Middle East, contributing to national and regional efforts to develop healthcare services. Zain took part in the opening ceremony under the patronage and attendance of Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Abdulwahab Al-Awadhi, Chairman of the Otorhinolaryngology Departments Council and Conference President Dr Mutlaq Al-Sihan, and Zain Kuwait’s Chief Corporate Affairs and Relations Officer Waleed Al-Khashti, alongside a distinguished group of medical specialists from Kuwait and abroad.
This participation reflects Zain’s continuous support for the Ministry of Health’s efforts to keep pace with the latest medical and surgical developments and to adopt advanced technologies that enhance the patient experience and the quality of care. The conference also served as a platform for interaction and knowledge exchange among leading experts and specialists, contributing to the development of medical skills and the enhancement of scientific collaboration.
This year’s edition featured notable scientific contributions from Canada, Turkey, Russia, and Europe, in addition to broad participation from the GCC and the MENA region. Kuwaiti physicians and experts presented pioneering experiences in performing precise, advanced procedures in otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery using state-of-the-art methods. The conference also included a number of specialized workshops in audiology, balance disorders, and speech difficulties, with particular focus on showcasing the latest global research and surgical technologies in these subspecialties, in addition to several major operations performed with visiting consultants.

The Zain ENT Center continues to achieve a series of milestone accomplishments, notably the first operation of its kind in a government hospital in the Middle East to treat obstructive sleep apnea by implanting a smart device that stimulates the hypoglossal nerve under the tongue, performed by Kuwaiti physicians.
Additional achievements include successful cochlear implants for infants aged six and nine months after meningitis-related hearing loss, the introduction of the TRV device to treat motion-induced vertigo as the first of its kind in Kuwait, the establishment of an ENT clinic in Sabah Al-Ahmad operating two days a week, and the opening of a 24/7 specialized ENT emergency clinic in Al-Mutlaa. Zain values the considerable organizational efforts made by the Zain ENT Center and its team and confirms its ongoing support for medical and educational initiatives that keep pace with global developments and elevate community health.
In line with Zain’s commitment to enabling digital transformation in healthcare, Kuwait has recently opened a new chapter in the Guinness World Records by accomplishing an intercontinental robotic surgery that surpassed a geographic distance of more than 12,000 kilometers between Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital in Kuwait and (Hospital da) Cruz Vermelha in Brazil. This achievement was realized through collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital, Zain Group, and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS), with Zain providing advanced international MPLS communications infrastructure that enabled secure, high-speed connectivity between Kuwait and Brazil.
