KUWAIT: The World Health Organization (WHO), through its Kuwait country office, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lei Wa Lakom a social enterprise dedicated to strengthening collaboration on health awareness, mental wellbeing and community empowerment in Kuwait. The agreement provides a framework for joint initiatives that promote healthier living, expand awareness of universal health coverage, and engage youth and communities in meaningful ways.
Planned activities include media campaigns, expert-led talk shows, podcasts, community events and creative content aligned with WHO guidance. Dr Assad Hafeez, WHO Representative to Kuwait, welcomed the partnership, saying: “This collaboration reflects our commitment to working with innovative local organizations that can help bring health messages closer to communities. By joining forces with Lei Wa Lakom, we aim to create impactful campaigns that address key issues such as mental health, healthy lifestyles and equitable access to healthcare.”
Lei Wa Lakom’s Founder, Taiba Al-Humaidhi, emphasized the importance of combining art and advocacy for social good: “Our mission has always been to empower people through storytelling and creative media. Partnering with WHO allows us to amplify health awareness in ways that resonate with everyday life. Together, we can inspire positive change and foster a healthier, more resilient society.” The MoU, effective through 2028, marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration where both organizations will co-develop and deliver programs tailored to the needs of Kuwait’s communities.
