KUWAIT: The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Kuwait hosted a ceremony on Tuesday to mark the 34th anniversary of Tajikistan’s National Independence Day, with senior Kuwaiti officials and heads of diplomatic missions. In his opening remarks, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kuwait and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Zubaydullo Zubaydov, highlighted Kuwait’s longstanding support, noting that it was among the first countries to recognize Tajikistan’s independence.
He stated “Diplomatic relations between the two countries were formally established on March 31, 1995, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of that partnership,” noting that the bilateral relations have steadily grown over three decades on the basis of friendship and mutual respect, and Kuwait remains one of Tajikistan’s most trusted partners in the Middle East and globally.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for their support in strengthening ties. Appreciation was also extended to Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Yahya and officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their ongoing cooperation. Highlighting Kuwait’s contribution to Tajikistan’s development, Ambassador Zubaydov praised the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development for its role in supporting key infrastructure and social projects in Tajikistan.

He reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Kuwait across economic, humanitarian, and regional initiatives, expressing confidence that joint efforts will continue to strengthen the partnership for the benefit of both nations and their peoples. On this occasion, the ambassador recalled that on this day in 1991, Tajikistan declared its independence and joined the international community. Over the past 34 years, the country has achieved significant milestones in development and progress under the leadership of President Emomali Rahmon, advancing toward sustainable development and stability.
He noted that Tajikistan has adopted several national strategies, including the National Development Strategy 2030, which focuses on four key pillars: energy, communications, food security, and industry. The ambassador added that Tajikistan continues to strengthen its international presence through initiatives related to water resource management, environmental and climate issues, artificial intelligence, and regional integration, highlighting Tajikistan’s “open-door policy” since independence.
