KUWAIT: The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, part of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Kuwaiti youth and strengthening their scientific and engineering skills by providing an advanced learning environment aligned with global best practices in innovation. The affirmation came as the center inaugurated the STEM Racing Academy at The Avenues Mall on Tuesday. The opening ceremony was held under the patronage — and in the presence — of the center’s Chairperson, Eng. Haifa Al-Mudhaf, alongside Mabani Real Estate Company CEO Eng. Waleed Al-Shuraiaan, the center’s General Manager Nada Al-Daihani, and several officials and specialists in education and technology.

The center explained that the STEM Racing Academy, launched in cooperation with Formula 1 and Mabani Real Estate, targets students aged 15 and 16. The initiative offers young participants hands-on experience in designing and building miniature racing cars using professional-grade engineering tools and software, strengthening their skills in engineering, aerodynamics, programming and teamwork. The launch coincides with the start of training for the qualifying rounds of the 2025-2026 National STEM Racing Championship, through which winning teams will have the opportunity to represent Kuwait in the World Championship finals next year. The center noted that this competitive platform encourages innovation while building students’ leadership, planning and problem-solving abilities.
Following the “remarkable success” of last year’s pilot program, the academy’s new edition will expand to include weekly specialized workshops. These include “Junior Racer,” which offers practical training in building miniature race cars and understanding basic aerodynamics and mechanics, and “Design Thinking in Tech,” which focuses on innovation, creative problem-solving and modern design-thinking methodologies. The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity invited students eager to advance their scientific and engineering capabilities to register for the STEM Racing Academy and embark on an enriching educational journey. The center said the program aims to equip youth with the skills and confidence needed to excel in engineering fields and compete on the global stage. —KUNA
