KUWAIT: His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah highlighted Switzerland’s emergence as a hub for advanced industries, pharmaceuticals, watchmaking, jewelry, and heavy industries, noting that the country ranks among the world’s major exporters despite not being a member of the European Union. He also commended Switzerland’s leadership in humanitarian efforts, particularly through the International Committee of the Red Cross, which reflects the nation’s guiding principle of “neutrality armed with humanity.”
Sheikh Nasser further noted Switzerland’s growing reputation in medical tourism, with world-class hospitals attracting families from the Gulf region for both healthcare and recreational purposes. He added that the country’s stability and neutrality have also encouraged many Kuwaitis to invest in Swiss real estate. Lauding Switzerland’s balanced foreign policy and its role as a mediator in global conflicts and crises, Sheikh Nasser described the Swiss model as an inspiration for decision-makers.

He emphasized that Kuwaiti-Swiss relations have steadily developed over the years, highlighted by reciprocal visits of senior officials, including a notable meeting between His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and former Swiss President Viola Amherd on the sidelines of the 79th UN General Assembly session in New York. Sheikh Nasser affirmed Kuwait’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with Switzerland, noting that these relations are founded on mutual confidence and shared strategic interests. Earlier today, His Highness received the visiting Swiss Foreign Minister at Shuwaikh Palace and hosted a luncheon in his honor, as well as for his accompanying delegation. — KUNA
