KUWAIT: General Manager of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity (SACGC), Neda Al-Daihani, reaffirmed on Monday the Center’s commitment to empowering national talent and facilitating their access to international investment platforms. In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Daihani highlighted the Center’s participation in the 16th Middle East International Invention Exhibition, organized by the Kuwait Scientific Club under the patronage of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. The exhibition features 11 Kuwaiti innovators presenting a wide range of scientific and technological solutions.
Al-Daihani said the participation reflects the Center’s strategic role in nurturing national talent and bridging the gap between innovative ideas and commercial investment. He described the exhibition as a leading regional platform for marketing inventions as viable commercial projects, promoting the exchange of expertise and showcasing advanced scientific solutions. He reviewed a number of Kuwaiti innovations spanning several key sectors. In medical technology, Salama Ayad and Thunayan Al-Omairi presented an advanced hip joint system designed to suit Arab and Asian anatomical characteristics, improving stability and reducing post-operative complications.

In artificial intelligence and engineering, Qatralnada Al-Anzi showcased an AI-based tool for auditing engineering designs to mitigate structural risks, while Mohammad Al-Qattan introduced a smart, energy-efficient vehicle climate control system. In the energy and sustainability sector, Ahmed Taher presented a system for generating hydrogen using heat derived from aluminum, while Dana Khuraibet showcased a sand-based thermal energy storage solution. Al-Ghaliya Abual-Hassan also presented a project converting textile waste into biochar through pyrolysis.
In accessibility and education, Fatima Al-Anzi and Latifa Al-Zaabi introduced a Braille-integrated mathematics learning device, while Abdullah Al-Mutairi presented a light-guided piano learning system. Other innovations included Talib Al-Attar’s high-efficiency personal aircraft design, Ali Al-Theeb’s smart system for converting organic waste into high-quality natural fertilizer, and Sulaiman Al-Khattaf’s multifunctional, adjustable and foldable school desk designed to enhance learning environments and optimize space in educational institutions.
Meanwhile, Director of the Examination Department at the Patent Office of the GCC General Secretariat, Majid Al-Rafiq, said the Secretariat’s participation in the exhibition reflects its continued support for Gulf inventors and its efforts to link patented innovations with investment opportunities. Speaking to KUNA on Tuesday, Al-Rafiq said the General Secretariat is participating this year with six inventors, noting that the exhibition includes more than 200 innovators, underscoring its growing importance as a regional platform for innovation and knowledge exchange.

He added that the Patent Office has allocated three awards to be presented on the exhibition’s final day, as part of its support for Gulf innovators. Al-Rafiq expressed appreciation to the exhibition organizers, stressing that the Secretariat’s participation builds on previous efforts to provide inventors with networking opportunities and exposure to specialized scientific forums. Al-Rafiq noted that this year’s theme, “Meeting Investors and Inventors,” aligns with efforts to transform innovative ideas into viable investment opportunities by bringing inventors and investors together.
Among the participating Gulf innovators, Kuwaiti inventor Siham Abdullah Al-Otaibi presented her “Medical Sterilization and Healthcare Bed,” offering preventive and therapeutic solutions to combat viruses and bacteria. She said the idea originated during the COVID-19 pandemic and has since evolved into a multi-purpose device for preventive medicine, burn treatment and cosmetic applications. Qatari inventor Mohsen Al-Sheikh showcased a “Smart E-commerce Stores Platform” that enables store owners to launch online shops instantly using barcode technology, without the need for product photography. The platform includes an early warning system for product expiration dates, contributing to public health protection and waste reduction.
In sustainability, Bahraini inventor Dr Omaima Al-Abbasi presented a passive cooling system using perforated clay bricks reinforced with palm fibers, achieving a reduction of around 20 degrees Celsius in roof temperatures during peak summer. Emirati inventor Aisha Al-Zarouni introduced a touch-based electronic text reader in the form of a smart glove equipped with a Braille cell, enabling visually impaired users to read digital content privately.
In the energy sector, Omani inventor Khalid Al-Darmaki presented a smart electrical distribution panel featuring selective protection technology that isolates faulty circuits without disrupting the entire system. Saudi inventor Mansour Ali Al-Qarni also participated, presenting a voice performance testing device designed to train broadcasters and content creators. Kuwait is hosting the 16th International Invention Exhibition in the Middle East until Wednesday, with the participation of 213 inventors from around the world. — KUNA
