ABU DHABI: The first UAE-Kuwait Women’s Forum opened this week, showcasing the deep, longstanding ties between the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait while highlighting the growing role of women in sustainable development across both nations. The event, organized by the General Women’s Union of the UAE in cooperation with Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will continue until February 4. In remarks to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Noura Al-Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the UAE General Women’s Union, emphasized the “strong relations” between the two countries and their shared commitment to women’s empowerment. She said the forum reflects a “longstanding approach to supporting women, empowering them and recognizing their role as active partners in development and future-building.”
Al-Suwaidi also praised the achievements of Kuwaiti women across multiple sectors. The forum serves as a platform for exchanging expertise, sharing successful initiatives and strengthening partnerships between women’s organizations in both countries. “The paths of cooperation between Emirati and Kuwaiti women represent a successful model for Gulf collaboration and demonstrate women’s ability to contribute effectively to sustainable development and community building,” Al-Suwaidi said. An accompanying exhibition allowed female entrepreneurs and small business owners to display their work, providing an example of economic empowerment in action. Cultural and heritage displays also emphasized the shared social and human bonds between the two nations, showcasing the crucial role of women in preserving traditions and creating value.
“Women in the UAE and Kuwait have always been a central pillar of development,” Al-Suwaidi said. “The successes achieved by women in both countries reflect the depth of ties and a shared vision for a more prosperous and sustainable future for both peoples.” The forum marks a renewed commitment to women’s empowerment and continued cooperation between the UAE and Kuwait, reinforcing the countries’ longstanding relationship. — KUNA
