KUWAIT: The Kuwait Meteorological Department has forecast scattered rain, occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms, across the country, with rainfall ranging from light to moderate. Rain is expected to return on Wednesday evening and continue into Thursday, becoming moderate to heavy in some areas, particularly in southern and coastal regions. Acting Director of the department Dharar Al-Ali told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps, satellite imagery and numerical models indicate the country is currently being affected by an extension of a high-pressure system that is gradually receding, allowing a surface low-pressure system to advance from the southwest.
He explained that the low-pressure system is gradually deepening and coinciding with another low-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, accompanied by a relatively cold and humid air mass. This is expected to increase low- and mid-level cloud cover, interspersed with cumulonimbus clouds, creating chances of scattered rainfall that may be thundery at times and vary in intensity. Al-Ali noted that the rainy conditions are expected to persist until dawn on Friday, potentially reducing horizontal visibility during periods of rainfall and leading to the formation of fog in some areas during the evening and early morning hours.
Winds are forecast to be southeasterly to variable in direction, light to moderate in speed, and occasionally active. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures will range between 11 and 15 degrees Celsius. He added that weather conditions are expected to gradually improve from Friday morning, stressing the importance of following official weather updates through the department’s website, mobile application and social media platforms to stay informed of the latest developments. — KUNA
