Committee urged to support initiatives aimed at diversifying Kuwait’s economic base
KUWAIT: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah chaired yesterday at Bayan Palace the 32nd meeting of the Ministerial Committee tasked with following up on the implementation of major development projects across the country. During the meeting, His Highness reaffirmed Kuwait’s continued commitment to strengthening cooperation with nations that share strategic partnerships with the country — including the friendly People’s Republic of China — to advance major development projects and open wider avenues for investment, economic, commercial and industrial collaboration. His Highness also highlighted the forthcoming official visit of the Vice President of the People’s Republic of China and his accompanying delegation early next month.
The visit will include high-level talks with Kuwait’s political leadership aimed at reviewing the course of the deep-rooted strategic relations between both countries and enhancing coordination on the implementation of existing agreements and memoranda of understanding. The discussions, His Highness noted, will help push bilateral relations to broader horizons, particularly in areas of economic, trade and investment cooperation, while reinforcing the longstanding ties of friendship and mutual trust between the leaderships and governments of the two nations.
His Highness underscored the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve the objectives of Kuwait’s comprehensive development’s vision under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He stressed the government’s determination to proceed with the timely execution of key development projects in line with national plans. His Highness directed members of the Ministerial Follow-up Committee to continue supporting initiatives aimed at diversifying Kuwait’s economic base and developing promising sectors through close coordination among relevant government bodies and companies to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of projects.
He emphasized that the current and upcoming phases of development require enhanced coordination and integrated efforts to achieve tangible results within the planned timeframes, ensuring their positive impact on the national economy. Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and rapporteur of the Ministerial Committee, Ambassador Samih Johar Hayat, presented a report on the outcomes of meetings held between senior government officials and visiting company representatives to follow up on cooperation and progress in the execution of joint development projects.
The meeting was attended by Head of the Prime Minister’s Diwan Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil, Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Hamed Al-Meshari, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr Sabeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Ateeq Al-Majed, and Ambassador Samih Johar Hayat. — KUNA
