KUWAIT CITY: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah received on Wednesday at Bayan Palace Dr Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), along with his accompanying delegation, during their visit to Kuwait.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Minister of Finance, and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, Dr Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem, as well as Head of the Prime Minister’s Diwan Abdulaziz Al-Dakhil and senior officials from the Ministry of Finance, including representatives from the departments of international economic cooperation, financial planning and follow-up, and public debt.
Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between Kuwait and the IMF under the framework of “Kuwait Vision 2035,” with particular emphasis on increasing non-oil revenues, reforming subsidy systems to better target beneficiaries, ensuring fiscal sustainability and implementing selective taxation measures. His Highness the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of maintaining regular consultations with the IMF to monitor progress in these areas and to support Kuwait’s broader economic development objectives. — KUNA
