KUWAIT: The Ministry of Oil inaugurated its Oil Training Center (OTC) on Tuesday, highlighting its ongoing efforts to develop and qualify national cadres, enhance performance efficiency and ensure the sustainability of local expertise. The move reflects the ministry’s commitment to digital transformation and innovation in line with the goals of Kuwait Vision 2035. The inauguration ceremony, held under the patronage of Oil Minister Tareq Al-Roumi, also featured the launch of the Copilot initiative in cooperation with Microsoft.
Speaking at the event, Ministry Undersecretary Sheikh Dr Nemer Fahad Al Malik Al-Sabah described the opening of the center as a strategic step in developing human capital and building national competencies through specialized training programs. Sheikh Nemer Al-Sabah emphasized that the OTC aims to meet the ministry’s operational needs, strengthen its supervisory role, and prepare cadres for leadership and critical positions in the oil sector, while promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional excellence among employees. The center will lead digital transformation in training by establishing an integrated system that combines practical foundations with modern digital technologies.
This includes flexible e-learning platforms enabling training anytime, anywhere, and specialized programs in data analysis, artificial intelligence, and their applications in the oil industry. The center also aims to digitize the entire training process, from registration to evaluation, creating a modern learning environment that supports institutional development and enhances national workforce performance. Sheikh Nemer Al-Sabah highlighted the center’s focus on strategic partnerships and institutional integration, building local and international networks to exchange experiences and adopt global best practices.
This includes collaboration with government entities such as the Central Agency for Information Technology and the Civil Service Bureau to standardize procedures and align with market needs, as well as partnerships with leading technology companies like Microsoft to provide state-of-the-art software, cloud solutions, and training programs. The center also engages in technical partnerships with institutions such as the American Health and Safety Institute (HSI) to elevate occupational health and safety standards, a top priority in the oil sector.
Sheikh Nemer Al-Sabah stressed that the OTC contributes directly to Kuwait Vision 2035 by enhancing economic development and national sustainability. It supports the national economy through increased productivity and efficiency in the oil sector, reduces reliance on foreign expertise by localizing advanced skills, and positions Kuwait as a regional hub for training oil and gas professionals. The center also focuses on developing national competencies in renewable energy and environmental fields, aligning with Kuwait’s vision for sustainable development and a balanced knowledge-based economy, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the oil sector. — KUNA
