KUWAIT: Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan announced on Thursday that the executive contract for completing the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project will be signed next week under the patronage and in the presence of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, along with senior officials from a Chinese state-owned company affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Transport.
The announcement was made in a press statement issued by the Ministry of Public Works following Dr Al-Mashaan’s chairing of the 39th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of Major Projects in the country. The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the implementation of major development projects included in memoranda of understanding signed between the Government of Kuwait and the governments of brotherly and friendly countries. Dr Al-Mashaan said national achievements within the comprehensive development process are advancing rapidly and steadily toward a promising future, guided by the country’s wise political leadership.
According to the statement, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and member and rapporteur of the ministerial committee, Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, said the meeting discussed follow-up reports and updates from relevant government entities on implementation procedures for major development projects at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port. He added that discussions also covered cooperation in the electricity sector, renewable energy development, the establishment of a low-carbon green waste recycling system, housing development, environmental infrastructure for wastewater treatment plants, as well as environmental protection and efforts to combat desertification.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Meshari; Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem; Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah; Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Al-Majed; and Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and rapporteur of the ministerial committee, Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat. — KUNA
