KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced that an expanded security and traffic campaign in Hawally Square, involving all field sectors, resulted in 1,078 traffic violations and the arrest of 14 violators and wanted individuals. The operation continued until dawn and was conducted under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, with supervision from Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Hamed Al-Dawas and in the presence of field sector heads.
The campaign led to the arrest of five wanted persons and seven violators of residency and labor laws, the seizure of a wanted vehicle, and the impoundment of three vehicles for traffic violations. Authorities also apprehended a person in an abnormal state and another in possession of suspected alcoholic substances. The MoI stressed that such intensified security and traffic campaigns remain a priority to safeguard citizens, residents and the homeland.
In a separate development, the MoI announced the arrest of a gang of four African nationals responsible for vehicle thefts in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area. The Criminal Security Affairs Sector, through the Capital Governorate Investigations Department, apprehended the suspects following a series of recent thefts targeting bank customers in the Al-Dajeej area.
The ministry said the gang used vehicles with mismatched or altered license plates to track victims and mislead security services. Following intensive investigations and the use of modern technical tools, authorities monitored bank locations and arrested the four suspects in their vehicle near a bank. The accused confessed to the thefts, and legal procedures are underway to refer them to the competent authorities. The MoI reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing anyone who threatens public safety or security and taking all necessary legal measures to maintain law and order across the country. — KUNA
