KUWAIT: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on Sunday the arrest of a suspect in the Fahaheel area in possession of two bags containing 50 kilograms of hashish prepared for distribution inside the country. In a press statement, the ministry said the arrest followed a tip received by the Criminal Enforcement Department about an individual involved in narcotics trafficking and possessing large quantities of drugs for distribution within Kuwait. Following the information, immediate coordination was established with the General Department for Drug Control and a joint security team was formed to investigate the case.
The coordinated efforts led to the arrest of the suspect in Fahaheel. The ministry added that the suspect, who is residing in the country illegally, confessed during interrogation to receiving the drugs for KD 3,000 (approximately $9,800) on behalf of a Kuwaiti citizen with a criminal record, who remains at large and is wanted in connection with several drug trafficking cases. The ministry confirmed that the suspect and the seized narcotics have been referred to the competent authorities for legal action. The Ministry of Interior reiterated its firm commitment to combating narcotics and preventing attempts to promote or traffic drugs in Kuwait.
Meanwhile, the Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) announced that it has referred a number of supervisors in government agencies to the Public Prosecution for allegedly submitting false financial disclosure statements. In a statement issued Sunday, Nazaha urged all individuals subject to financial disclosure regulations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of their submissions within the legally prescribed deadlines. The authority emphasized that adhering to disclosure laws is both a legal and ethical duty that safeguards public funds, upholds integrity and reinforces public confidence in state institutions. — KUNA
