Smart license to streamline business approvals • Passport certificate for minors on Sahel
KUWAIT: The ministry of commerce and industry on Monday launched a new package of electronic services in coordination with the ministry of interior, represented by the general department of traffic, to streamline procedures related to commercial activities under the interior ministry’s jurisdiction.
Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Marwa Al-Juaidan told KUNA that the new services come within the ministry’s efforts to enhance digital transformation and simplify business procedures. Al-Juaidan explained that the initiative includes a “smart license” project, which aims to unify government procedures and facilitate services for business owners through a single electronic platform, enabling instant electronic verification of business data and security approvals without the need for paper documents.
The smart license, issued with a single barcode, will consolidate all related approvals and procedures, reducing paperwork and ensuring full electronic documentation. She noted that this launch marks an advanced phase in the government’s digital transformation project, contributing to greater procedural efficiency and improved user experience.
She affirmed ongoing institutional cooperation between the commerce ministry and the interior ministry to ensure smooth processing of commercial activities supervised by the General Directorate of Traffic, expressing appreciation for the interior ministry’s cooperation in implementing this joint effort.
Separately, the interior ministry launched a new service to issue a certificate of original Kuwaiti passport for children under the age of 16, enabling parents to request the certificate through the unified government electronic services application Sahel. In a press statement on Sunday, the ministry explained that parents can access the service on Sahel by selecting Kuwaiti Passport Services and then choosing the Certificate of Original Kuwaiti Passport option. The certificate provides an official and certified copy of the child’s passport data, which can be used when required by governmental or official agencies. – KUNA
