KUWAIT: Kuwait’s Ministry of Health organized a public event on Saturday to mark World Diabetes Day, aiming to raise awareness and promote preventive health measures. “Organizing the awareness day on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, which falls on November 14 each year, comes within the ministry’s plan and strategy to promote health awareness and reach all members of society,” Health Minister Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi said.
The event took place at The Avenues mall and featured participation from multiple health departments. Visitors, including children and adults, received diabetes and blood pressure screenings. Educational booklets and blood glucose monitoring devices were also distributed. Al-Awadhi highlighted the collaboration between medical staff and the public. “The awareness day reflected a beautiful image of the medical team — doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrators — working together with the community,” he said.

He added that engaging the public in interactive spaces is a key part of the ministry’s mission to enhance prevention and limit disease progression, particularly among diabetes patients. The surgery department offered guidance on diabetic foot care, while other departments provided nutritional advice and information on available treatments, supporting comprehensive health awareness and preventive care. — KUNA
