KUWAIT: The Ministry of Health strongly condemned an attack on a doctor at a primary healthcare center while he was performing his professional duties inside the clinic. In an official statement on Sunday, the ministry said the attacker fled the scene after causing injuries and scratches to the doctor’s body. The ministry described the assault as a clear violation of the sanctity of healthcare facilities and the safety of medical staff. “This behavior is disgraceful and criminal under Law No. 70 of 2020 concerning the practice of medical professions,” the statement said.
The ministry confirmed it immediately took all necessary legal and security measures in full coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure the attacker is held accountable under the law. Health Minister Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi and Undersecretary Dr Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi personally checked on the doctor’s condition and addressed his needs. The ministry also stressed it will continue to monitor the case with security and judicial bodies while taking all required steps to protect the work environment and provide legal and professional guarantees for all healthcare workers. — KUNA
