KUWAIT: First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah and Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi on Saturday inaugurated the 10th ward at the Addiction Treatment Centre following its rehabilitation, funded through a donation from Kuwait Finance House (KFH). The ceremony was attended by KFH Chairman Hamad Al-Marzouq and KFH Group CEO Khaled Al-Shamlan.
Following a tour of the facility with Minister Al-Awadhi and KFH officials, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef affirmed that, under the directives of the political leadership, the Ministry of Interior works in full coordination with state institutions and relevant authorities to strengthen the culture of prevention, enhance community awareness, and expand treatment and rehabilitation programs.
He praised the humanitarian and professional efforts of the Addiction Treatment Centre in providing care and high-quality services to patients on the path to recovery. While reaffirming the Ministry’s firm stance in combating drugs, Sheikh Fahad emphasized that the state also extends a helping hand to citizens struggling with addiction. “The opening of the 10th ward sends a clear message that treatment and rehabilitation are an integral part of our collective responsibility,” he said.
Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi explained that the newly rehabilitated ward spans approximately 900 square meters and includes 11 rooms with a total capacity of 22 beds, along with two isolation rooms and one observation room. He noted that the expansion project is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to support the Addiction Treatment Centre, which was originally established in 2005 with contributions from KFH.
For his part, KFH Chairman Hamad Al-Marzouq expressed pride in the bank’s contribution to the project, stressing that KFH’s support stems from its strong sense of national and social responsibility, and its commitment to health initiatives that promote family and social stability. At the conclusion of the inauguration, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef and Minister Al-Awadhi extended their appreciation to KFH for its pioneering national role, affirming that the partnership between the public and private sectors represents a key pillar in supporting Kuwait’s development vision. — KUNA
