KUWAIT: Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan inspected ongoing maintenance works on Subhan Street (101) on Sunday, reviewing the latest developments under new contracts for comprehensive road rehabilitation. The ministry said in a statement that Al-Mashaan praised the engineering team’s continuous efforts to enhance road efficiency and improve traffic flow. Engineer Noura Al-Mutairi, supervisor of Contract 18 in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, explained that the current phase involves spreading a layer of type (3) asphalt as part of an integrated plan to upgrade infrastructure and improve road conditions across the region.
Kuwait has intensified road maintenance and development initiatives in recent years to accommodate rising traffic demands, enhance safety and support urban expansion. The Ministry of Public Works has awarded multiple contracts for resurfacing, widening and rehabilitating major streets and highways, aiming to ensure smooth traffic movement and sustainable infrastructure development nationwide. The ongoing works on Subhan Street form part of this broader effort to modernize the country’s road network and enhance the efficiency and safety of transportation corridors serving residential and commercial areas.
In another development, personnel from the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Security Directorates Sector, removed structures illegally built on state-owned plots in the residential districts of Taimaa and Al-Sulaibiya. The MoI said in a statement on Saturday that several expatriates were detained during operations targeting unlicensed commercial activities on these lands.
The campaign was carried out in coordination with Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Electricity, and the Public Authority for Housing Welfare. Authorities notified homeowners who had erected irregular units to remove them by September 15 or face legal action. The ministry emphasized that such measures aim to uphold the rule of law, protect state property, and ensure orderly urban planning. — KUNA
