The visitors to Anfield, meanwhile, will be without their captain Luca Connell because of suspension, having been sent off in their last match.
But they do hope to have Georgie Gent, Marc Roberts and Nathanael Ogbeta available.
“Nathanael Ogbeta will definitely be back,” head coach Conor Hourihane told the Barnsley Chronicle. “Robbo is going to be touch and go but we will give him every chance to be involved in such a good game.
“Georgie has not trained as many days but they could all potentially be back. It will be touch and go.”
Defender Eoghan O’Connell arrived at the club as a free agent on Tuesday and is also in contention to feature.
Hourihane said: “He will definitely be involved. We have to get him up to speed as best we can.
“We know when he gets fit and in a decent place he will be a really valuable player for us heading into the second half of the season.”
Adam Phillips, one of Barnsley’s current longest-serving players, and Vimal Yoganathan were previously part of Liverpool’s Academy system.
