By Liverpool FC
Liverpool FC will be continuing its annual support for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal with dedicated remembrance fixtures, bespoke poppy pins and auctioning poppy-embellished match-worn shirts.
The two designated games will be against Aston Villa in the Premier League at Anfield on November 1 and versus Brighton & Hove Albion in the Barclays Women’s Super League at St Helens Stadium on November 9.
Players from both the men’s and women’s teams will wear home jerseys featuring the Remembrance Day poppy, which are worn to remember the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community. They will be signed by all players and auctioned to raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal here.
Ahead of kick-off at both designated fixtures, a period of silence will be observed with current service and ex-service personnel, standard bearers and a bugler to play the Last Post.
Further support to the Poppy Appeal will be given through the LFC matchday programme, perimeter LED boards and an LFC Royal British Legion poppy pin on sale at the club’s online retail store and in-store.
The Royal British Legion relies on donations from the Poppy Appeal to help provide vital support to the Armed Forces community and families to ensure their unique contribution is never forgotten.
LFC works closely with Merseyside’s Royal British Legion representatives to support their work in the local community and also LFC Foundation’s Military Veterans project. This aims to support and re-engage ex-military service men and women back into civilian life through the power of football.
All of the proceeds raised from sales of the LFC Royal British Legion poppy pin will go directly to the Royal British Legion.
