All Premier League matches between October 18-26 will be dedicated to No Room For Racism to highlight the importance of diversity and remind fans that discrimination has no place in our game.
Players from both teams will take the knee ahead of kick-off to highlight unity against all forms of racism and No Room For Racism branding will feature across the match – including the ball plinth and pitchside LEDs.
As part of a league-wide poetry competition, with a focus on this year’s campaign theme ‘Greatness Comes From Everywhere’, LFC Foundation invited pupils across its Premier League Primary Stars programme to take part and explore what makes us unique and how differences makes us stronger.
The winner has been selected as eight-year-old Charlie Williams, whose winning poem will feature in the matchday programme. A national winner across all Premier League clubs will be selected by a judging panel and will receive exclusive prizes – including a visit from the Premier League trophy to their school.
Fans can show their support for the No Room For Racism campaign when purchasing a shirt in-store or online by adding a No Room For Racism patch for £5. Proceeds support LFC Foundation’s equality and inclusion work – including school and community events.
This month also marks Black History Month and as part of the club’s celebrations, LFC’s first ever Black player, Howard Gayle, spent the day with Curtis Jones to share his inspiring story of battling racism and breaking down barriers. You can watch the full video of the special meeting here.
Red Together, which encompasses the club’s commitment to ensuring equality, diversity and inclusion, encourages fans to take a stand against hate and report any incidents of racism and discriminatory abuse both online and inside stadiums.
If fans witness any anti-social, discriminatory or abusive behaviour – including tragedy chanting or gesturing – they can report it to their nearest steward in confidence or text ‘LFC’ followed by a message to 64446, providing details of the incident and the location in the stadium. The club also has an online reporting system in place to log incidents of abuse, which is available at liverpoolfc.com/reportabuse.
All reports of abuse received by the club will be investigated and escalated to the relevant authorities to be dealt with. The club also continues to work with the Premier League, Football Association and other integral organisations, as well as calling on social media platforms to take swift and tough action against perpetrators.
