KUWAIT: Dubai Media Incorporated and Kuwait’s Ministry of Information signed a memorandum of understanding Sunday for joint production between Kuwait Television and Dubai TV. The agreement was signed by Mohamed Al-Mulla, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Media Incorporated, and Dr Nasser Muhaisen, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information in Kuwait.
The signing took place during a a UAE-Kuwaiti media reception organized by the Dubai Press Club and attended by media professionals, artists and content creators from both countries.
During her remarks, Mona Ghanem Al-Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, extended her congratulations to Kuwait’s leadership and people on the occasion of the country’s National Day. She noted that the directive of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will celebrate Kuwait-UAE ties for a full week across the Emirates.
“The event reflects the strength of the brotherly bonds between the two countries and embodies the UAE leadership’s belief that Kuwait is not only a sister state, but a close home, a shared memory and a partner bound by enduring historical positions,” Al-Marri stated.
She highlighted key milestones in UAE-Kuwaiti media cooperation, including when Dubai officially launched its first television broadcast in 1969 with Kuwaiti support. She described this partnership as an early model of Gulf media integration, later reinforced through the Dubai Press Club, the Arab Media Summit and the Arab Journalism Award, which has honored leading Kuwaiti journalists over the years.
Minister of Health and then Acting Minister of Information and Culture Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi noted that the gathering reflects the depth of the fraternal relations between Kuwait and the UAE, highlighting the pivotal role of media in strengthening communication, consolidating shared values and building bridges between peoples.
“UAE-Kuwaiti media cooperation is grounded in a shared vision supported by the political leadership of both countries. This support provides a solid foundation for advancing joint institutional work,” Al-Awadhi said. He added that the signing of the agreement represents a practical step toward developing media production ecosystems, exchanging expertise and empowering media professionals. He explained that the agreement will help produce content that reflects the identity of both countries, keeps pace with digital transformation and strengthens the regional and international presence of Gulf media.
