KUWAIT: Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan announced on Thursday that the executive contract to complete the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port will be signed this month with a Chinese government company affiliated with China’s Ministry of Communications and Transportation. Dr Al-Mashaan made the announcement while chairing the 38th meeting of the ministerial committee tasked with following up on Kuwait’s major projects, including agreements signed with foreign countries, the Ministry of Public Works said in a statement.
The meeting also reviewed other key projects, including the national power grid, the development of renewable and green energy infrastructures, recycling initiatives, housing projects, sanitation, free trade, and measures to counter desertification. Dr Al-Mashaan noted that contracts for major projects will be signed soon after completing the necessary procedures with relevant government and auditing bodies.
For his part, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asia Affairs and Secretary of the Ministerial Committee, Ambassador Sameeh Hayat, affirmed that the coming period will see the implementation of various agreements signed by Kuwait with other countries, including China. He stressed that Kuwait remains committed to accelerating its development plans as major international companies continue to express interest in the country’s projects.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Meshari, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Economic Affairs and Investment Dr Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem, Chief of the Administration of Fatwa and Legislations Salah Al-Majed, Ambassador Hayat, and senior officials from the ministries of Public Works, Defense and Foreign Affairs. — KUNA
