KUWAIT: Kuwait is hosting the fourth Gulf Women Journalists Forum, bringing together more than 30 female journalists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. The event, titled “The Gulf Narrative of Women in Journalism and Media,” opens Sunday under the patronage of Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi.
Isa Al-Shayji, Chairman of the Gulf Federation of Journalists (GFJ) and and secretary-general of the Bahraini Journalists Association, praised the efforts of Kuwaiti journalists in organizing the forum. He also highlighted Kuwait’s ongoing support for Gulf media collaboration. “We highly value the continuous interest of the Ministry of Information and Culture in enhancing joint Gulf media work, supporting journalistic and media cooperation among GCC countries, and providing an environment for exchanging expertise and developing the profession,” Al-Shayji said.
The forum coincides with the sixth board meeting of the Gulf Journalists Union. Al-Shayji noted that Kuwait’s hosting of the event supports the union’s efforts to empower Gulf journalists, especially women working in the field. The forum will host more than 30 Gulf female journalists and media professionals working in editing and field reporting.

Al-Rashed described the forum as “an active platform for exchanging experiences and a chance to highlight the achievements of Gulf female journalists and their contributions to developing media content in the GCC.” He added that the event aims to produce practical recommendations addressing current journalistic challenges, with a focus on women’s contributions to the sector.
He also welcomed the Gulf Federation of Journalists board meeting in Kuwait, noting the participation of all association and media center heads from member countries. “This continues the path of achievements and successes to strengthen Gulf journalistic and media cooperation,” he said.
