KUWAIT: Kuwait on Sunday bid farewell in a military funeral to duty martyr Colonel Saud Nassar Al-Khamsan of the general department of correctional institutions. The funeral procession took place at Sulaibikhat cemetery, following his death from injuries sustained while performing his national duty.
Leading the mourners was First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, accompanied by Interior Ministry Undersecretary Lt Gen Abdulwahab Al-Wuhaib, senior interior ministry officials, officers, personnel and citizens. Sheikh Fahad extended his deepest condolences and sincere sympathies to the family of the deceased, conveying to them the condolences of HH the Amir, HH the Crown Prince and HH the Prime Minister.
The minister affirmed that the martyr was a model of dedication and sincerity in the performance of his duties, stressing that the sacrifices of Kuwait’s sons will always be a source of pride and appreciation, and a driving force to continue fulfilling national responsibilities in the service of the country’s security and stability. Lt Gen Al-Wuhaib said duty martyrs will forever remain symbols of sacrifice and selflessness, adding that their contributions are deeply rooted in the nation’s collective memory and reflect the highest values of loyalty and belonging.
On Jan 11, a fire broke out at the building of the general administration of correctional institutions in Sulaibiya. The blaze resulted in injuries to several personnel, including police officers and cleaning workers. Emergency response teams from the Kuwait Fire Force and medical authorities promptly attended the scene and brought the fire under control. Al-Khamsan, one of the injured officers, succumbed to his injuries after several days of treatment. — Agencies
