PARIS: Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the French Republic, aiming to strengthen collaboration in the civil aviation sector between the two countries. The agreement was signed by Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, Chairman of the DGCA, and Chems Chkioua, Director General of Civil Aviation of France, in the presence of Kuwaiti Ambassador to France Abdullah Al-Shaheen.
Speaking to KUNA, Sheikh Humoud said the meetings with French officials focused on enhancing operational aspects of civil aviation, including training and personnel development, as well as opening new routes to increase air traffic between Kuwait and France. He added that discussions also explored encouraging French airlines to operate flights to Kuwait International Airport, thereby boosting connectivity and passenger traffic.

The MoU covers a range of initiatives, including increasing scheduled commercial flights, expanding air cargo services, developing freight traffic, upgrading operational facilities, and fostering technical and technological cooperation between the two sides. Sheikh Humoud described the signing of the MoU as a “significant step toward opening new horizons for economic growth and advancing air transport services,” underscoring its importance in serving the mutual interests of Kuwait and France. — KUNA
