WASHINGTON: The Director General of Kuwait Coast Guard at the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Sabah, discussed on Monday with Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander, Admiral Brad Cooper, ways to enhance joint security cooperation.
A statement by the ministry of Interior said this came following Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah’s visit to the US Central Command headquarters as part of his official visit to the United States. The statement added that, Sheikh Mubarak conveyed the congratulations of Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf Al-Sabah to Admiral Cooper on his assumption of his new position as Commander of US Central Command, wishing him success in his duties.
The statement also noted that the meeting delved into aspects of existing cooperation between the State of Kuwait and the United States at the security level, and ways to develop it to enhance the efficiency of joint work and maintain security and stability in the region.
Sheikh Mubarak affirmed the depth of the historical ties and strategic partnership between the State of Kuwait and the United States, stressing the importance of strengthening channels of coordination and cooperation to serve the common interests of the two friendly countries.
Sheikh Mubarak pointed to the prominent role played by the US Central Command in leading the coalition forces to liberate the State of Kuwait, reflecting the depth of the historical relations between the two countries. — KUNA
