KUWAIT: Public and private schools in Kuwait will be closed on Thursday, December 11, 2025 as a protective measure due to rain, the Ministry of Education said on Wednesday.
Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali on Wednesday forecast scattered thunderstorms of varying intensity across Kuwait, accompanied by winds exceeding 45 kilometers per hour. He noted that weather conditions are expected to improve gradually from Thursday evening. Al-Ali explained that weather maps, pressure distributions and numerical models indicate that Kuwait has been affected since early Wednesday by an extension of a surface low-pressure system carrying warm and humid air, combined with an upper-level low-pressure system associated with a cold air mass.
“This combination has led to an increase in low and medium-level clouds, interspersed with cumulonimbus clouds,” he said. Al-Ali added that the scattered thunderstorms may vary from light to moderate, with some areas experiencing heavy and thundery conditions at times. He also warned of light to moderate southeasterly winds, occasionally reaching speeds of over 45 kilometers per hour, and reduced horizontal visibility in some areas due to fog formation. Marine conditions are expected to see waves exceeding six feet. — KUNA
