KUWAIT: The Kuwait Cabinet extolled on Tuesday the speech delivered by the Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit held in Qatar on Monday to discuss the brutal Israeli occupation attack on Doha.
The praise came during the customary Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday at Bayan Palace, under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shareeda Al Maousherji said in a statement after the meeting.
In the speech, the Amir’s Representative renewed Kuwait’s condemnation of the Israeli attack on September 9 on Qatar, affirming that Qatar’s security is a main pillar in the security of Arab and Muslim nations.
The Amir’s Representative reiterated that Qatar is an interrogated part of the two nations, voicing heartfelt condolences to Qatar, its leadership, government and people over the victims of this brutal aggression.
The Amir’s Representative – His Highness the Crown Prince – emphasized that ongoing Israeli occupation violation of Arab and Muslim countries’ sovereignty is a continuation of its escalating approach – its repercussions have been warned against – and an explicit threat to international and regional security as well as a direct underestimation of international efforts exerted to prevail peace in the region.
He noted that the Israeli violation also shows non-respect of international system and relevant charters. His Highness the Amir’s Representative renewed his call for the international community and the Security Council to assume their responsibilities and take effective and serious action to stop this systematic aggression against the region’s countries, and hold accountable the perpetrators.
He praised sincere efforts made by Qatar since the eruption of the Israeli occupation aggression against Gaza in 2023 to stop the bloodshed of Palestinian people who have been facing a war, a collective genocide and starvation.
His Highness the Amir’s Representative urged a ceasefire between all parties, affirming that the blatant Israeli occupation attack on Doha clearly shows Israel’s intention to devastate any efforts aiming to reach a truce and a permanent peace in the region.
In addition, he commended Qatar’s efforts to support Palestinian rights based on the international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders as East Jerusalem as its capital.
Sheikh Sabah Khaled underlined full backing to all measures taken by Qatar to maintain its security, stability and sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and expats. He underlined the necessity of concerted international and regional efforts to halt the escalation in the region and reject any practices, which fuel extremism and hatred, and destabilize the region.Meanwhile, the Cabinet was briefed on the letters sent to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from some heads of sisterly and friendly countries on boosting relation and activating cooperation aspects with Kuwait in multiple domains.The Cabinet praised the final communique issued by the extraordinary session of the GCC Supreme Council regarding the Israeli assault on Qatar.
The Council focused on the implications of the Israeli aggression on the sisterly state of Qatar and flagrant violation of its sovereignty during the ongoing negotiations and mediation made by Doha to reach a deal for Gaza.
The Council condemned, in the strongest terms, the Israeli occupation attack and blatant violation of Qatar, stressing it is a rejected hostile act a perilous escalation that runs counter to international law and the UN Charter.Additionally, the Cabinet was informed about the official visit of His Highness the Amir’s Representative to New York to chair Kuwait’s delegation to the 80th UN General Assembly session on September 19-26.Then, the ministers saw a visual presentation by Minister of Education Sayed Al-Tabtabaie on preparations and measures taken for the 2025-2026 academic year that include developing and updating some curricula to be in line with the State’s orientation.
They also saw another visual presentation by Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and Acting Minister of Finance, Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investments Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem on the situation of 141 projects estimated at KD 1.3 billion, in line with the annual plan.
The Cabinet approved a bill on annulling the Law No. 114 of 2014 on medical insurance for the retied nationals as it contained several negative aspects like high cost and the double-standard policy in terms of offering services, referring the bill to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The Cabinet eulogized former deputy prime minister and oil minister Emad Al-Atiqi who passed away last week after a rich journey of services for his country. The Cabinet finally reviewed some topics listed on the agenda and approved them, referring some of them to the ministerial and competent committees. — KUNA
