Initiatives align with Sustainable Development Goals under New Kuwait 2035 vision
KUWAIT: Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem on Wednesday reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to supporting regional and international efforts in the water sector, and to sharing expertise with member states to strengthen water security and environmental sustainability.
Al-Mukhaizeem made the remarks to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) during his participation in the fifth session of the Islamic Conference of Ministers Responsible for Water in the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah. He said Kuwait places special emphasis on developing its water resources and improving efficiency through modern technologies and digital transformation in planning and management. He added that Kuwait also implements initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals under the New Kuwait 2035 vision.
The conference, which opened Wednesday under the slogan “From Vision to Impact,” is attended by a Kuwaiti delegation headed by Al-Mukhaizeem, along with ministers and water specialists from OIC member states, to discuss common challenges and water-related issues. The session brings together ministers, experts, and specialists from across the OIC to explore ways of enhancing cooperation in sustainable water resource management. Discussions will focus on developing joint initiatives and projects that support water security, promote investment, and encourage sustainable financing in this vital sector.
The conference aims to strengthen partnerships between member states and OIC bodies, foster the use of modern technologies and digital solutions in water planning and management, and create collaborative initiatives that ensure sustainable water resources. Participants will also explore innovative financing mechanisms to enhance water security and sustainability across Islamic countries. — KUNA
