KUWAIT: Kuwait University will hold its fifth Scientific Research Conference on February 9, the university announced on Tuesday. The event will be attended by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr Nader Al-Jallal and Kuwait University Director Dr Dina Al-Mailem. Dr Mabkhout Al-Dosari, who is leading the conference committee, said the event aims to bring together researchers from universities, government agencies and the private sector. This collaboration will help focus research on topics that matter most to Kuwait, he added.
Dr Abdullah Sultan, vice president for research, said scientific research is a key part of Kuwait University’s long-term plans. He highlighted the university’s efforts to support researchers by providing funding, encouraging innovation and building partnerships with government institutions. Hosting this conference helps develop the university’s scientific work, he said. “It also allows research results to be used to address challenges facing the country’s public institutions,” Sultan said.
The two-day event will include panel discussions with experts from Kuwait and abroad on topics such as interdisciplinary research, digital tools in research, publishing in global journals and turning discoveries into patents and products. Speakers will also look at how interdisciplinary research affects international university rankings.
The conference will feature a poster exhibition with 430 contributions from faculty, staff and graduate students. Researchers from partner organizations, including the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, Kuwait Oil Company, the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences and Abdullah Al-Salem University, will also participate. Al-Dosari invited academics, researchers, and media representatives to attend the event and see Kuwait University’s latest research achievements. The conference will be held at the Sabah Al-Salem University City Conference Center in Shadadiya. — KUNA
