KUWAIT: The Kuwait University Council has approved a series of key decisions in its third meeting of the academic year, including new partnerships with international universities, updated regulations for research ethics, and faculty promotions. The meeting was chaired by University President Dr Dina Al-Mailem and held Sunday at the Sabah Al-Salem University City. In her opening remarks, Al-Mailem congratulated newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic year and praised the efforts of the Admissions and Registration Department for ensuring a smooth enrollment process.
“I thank the Admission and Registration administration and the Vice President for Academic Support Services for their contribution in facilitating admissions,” she said.
Speaking after the meeting, Acting Secretary-General of Kuwait University Dr Bader Al-Rajhi said the Council approved the regulatory framework for managing public shelters at the university’s Sabah Al-Salem campus, in addition to endorsing the university’s annual report for the 2023/2024 academic year.
Al-Rajhi also announced that the Council had approved four memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with international institutions: the University of Sharjah in the UAE, Tongji University in China, Texas A&M University in the United States, and the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, specifically through the university’s Center for Medical Sciences.
In a significant move for academic integrity, the Council also approved a new code of ethics for research involving human participants. Additionally, 24 faculty members from both scientific and humanities disciplines were promoted to the ranks of professor and associate professor.
