KUWAIT: Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) officially launched the digital transformation strategy for the country’s oil sector on Tuesday. As part of the strategy, the company aims to implement 24 initial digital initiatives, with potential for expansion in the future. The program is designed to enhance the sector’s efficiency, competitiveness and profitability, officials said.
The launch event took place at KNPC’s headquarters in Ahmadi, attended by CEO Wadha Al-Khatib, representatives from the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries, and officials from Boston Consulting Group (BCG), which is overseeing the program’s implementation.
In her opening remarks, KNPC’s Executive Vice President for Support Services and head of the digital transformation steering committee, Khaloud Al-Mutairi, described the program as “the result of years of continuous work, difficult decisions, coordination and follow-up among stakeholders in the oil sector.”
Al-Mutairi emphasized that reaching this stage required overcoming traditional barriers to lay the foundation for a new business culture focused on data, innovation and artificial intelligence. She added that the program “plays a key role in enabling the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation to achieve its 2024 strategic objectives and contributes to the ambitious goals of Kuwait Vision 2035 by developing the sector’s capabilities to create added value and support the national economy.”
She also expressed gratitude to KPC officials and subsidiary companies for placing their full trust in KNPC to lead this phase under the direct supervision of the higher steering committee for digital transformation, while highlighting the professional commitment of BCG. During the event, BCG and KNPC’s Projects 2 and IT departments delivered specialized technical presentations, detailing the transition from strategic vision to implementation and outlining the future roadmap for the program.
On Monday, Kuwait’s Oil Ministry launched six targeted digital projects under the program “Masar,” aimed at modernizing internal operations and improving service delivery. These projects include systems for performance management, financial processes, training, digital services, technical monitoring, and legal workflows. Oil Minister Tareq Al-Roumi emphasized that the initiatives are designed to enhance efficiency, transparency, and coordination across government institutions, while embedding governance and linking strategic planning with practical implementation. — KUNA
