KUWAIT: A local academic study has ranked Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) among the top quarter of global leaders in corporate innovation within the energy, oil and gas sectors. The study was revealed Wednesday during a workshop hosted by KNPC. The event brought together the company’s CEO, Wadha Al-Khatib, Dr. Adel Al-Hussainan, Secretary-General of the Founding Board of Abdullah Al-Salem University and representatives from Sweden’s Innovation 360 Group, which co-conducted the study with the university.
Al-Khatib told KUNA that KNPC’s success in corporate innovation positions the company to offer a fully new operational model. “Our approach can support transforming KNPC into a fully integrated innovation ecosystem and help strengthen Kuwait’s position as a regional leader in innovation,” she said. She highlighted that KNPC was previously ranked first in the Kuwaiti oil sector and achieved a strong standing regionally and globally in a similar study conducted by the US-based Boston Group “This progress reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to embedding an innovation culture,” Al-Khatib added. “We launched our first innovation strategy in 2018 and formed a dedicated innovation team a year earlier, in 2017.”
Al-Khatib emphasized that innovation is a key driver for sustainable growth and competitiveness, allowing KNPC to adapt to rapid industry changes and global challenges. She also praised the contributions of employees, particularly young staff, saying the company actively trains and empowers them to lead innovative initiatives and turn creative ideas into sustainable value that supports strategic goals. — KUNA
