KUWAIT: First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Saud Al-Sabah on Monday chaired the second meeting at Bayan Palace of the team tasked with regulating the establishment of places of worship and religious centers that host rituals.
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said the meeting comes in line with the directives of the country’s leadership and reflects Kuwait’s keenness to develop the religious work system within legal and regulatory frameworks, thereby consolidating religious and humanitarian values and enhancing the country’s regional and international standing.
The meeting reviewed the outcomes and recommendations of its first session, during which practical steps were discussed to set clear mechanisms and standards for licensing religious centers. The aim, the ministry noted, is to strengthen their community’s role while ensuring government bodies monitor compliance with approved regulations and laws.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Mohammad Al-Wasmi, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Meshari, Minister of Justice Counselor Nasser Al-Sumait, and Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Al-Majed, along with representatives from other government agencies. — KUNA
