KUWAIT: The Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) announced Wednesday that its Tenders Committee has approved a tender for the construction of water towers under the Affordable Housing project, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative for the Authority as part of efforts to strengthen infrastructure within new residential developments. Deputy Director General for Control and Information Systems Amina Al-Awadhi said in a press statement that the tender was issued pursuant to a Cabinet mandate and in line with the government’s commitment to establishing integrated residential cities equipped with sustainable infrastructure.
Al-Awadhi noted that the project aims to ensure the sustainability of water services, enhance operational efficiency and improve the quality of life for beneficiaries. The project includes the construction, completion and maintenance of 10 reinforced concrete water towers, each with a capacity of 660,000 gallons. It also encompasses the building of an electricity and control facility to house electrical equipment and control rooms, in addition to guard rooms and related service works.

She stated that the project is expected to be completed within 36 months and will be implemented in phases, aligned with the gradual commencement of services for residents in the new city. Al-Awadhi added that experienced and qualified companies and contractors have been invited to participate in the tender, contributing to the execution of one of the key national projects under the Affordable Housing initiative.
Jahra Waterfront project
In another development, Kuwait Municipality on Wednesday confirmed that all preparatory studies for the Jahra Waterfront project have been completed by specialized firms with international expertise. Deputy Director General for Projects Maysa Boushehri said in a press release that the municipality recently held a preliminary meeting to outline the project’s scope, clarify participation requirements and address inquiries from stakeholders, reinforcing transparency and equal opportunity for all bidding companies.
Boushehri explained that the preliminary meeting is part of Kuwait Municipality’s efforts to streamline tendering procedures and enhance the clarity of technical and contractual requirements for participants. She emphasized that the Jahra Waterfront project demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to delivering initiatives fully backed by comprehensive studies conducted by internationally experienced firms. She added that the project, the largest currently tendered by the municipality, is designed to offer sports, recreational, and commercial facilities for residents of Kuwait’s rapidly growing northern regions, ensuring that services are developed according to the latest international standards and best practices. — KUNA
