KUWAIT: The Joint Defense Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries on Tuesday stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and integration efforts and translating the wise vision of GCC leaders toward strengthening collective defense capabilities. This came during the 22nd session of the Joint Defense Council, hosted by Kuwait and chaired by Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, with the participation of GCC Secretary General Jasem Al-Budaiwi and defense ministers and heads of delegations of member states.
Earlier, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received at Bayan Palace Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah and his counterparts from Gulf states on the occasion of the meeting of the Joint Defense Council.
HH the Crown Prince relayed the greetings of HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his wishes of success.

The Joint Defense Council meeting discussed several issues related to joint GCC military cooperation on its agenda and adopted a number of decisions and recommendations that further support defense cooperation between the armed forces of GCC states. The GCC defense ministers expressed their sincere thanks and appreciation to GCC leaders for their continuous support of joint military action and their great interest in developing the GCC defense system.
They emphasized that joint GCC defense cooperation serves as a strong shield against various risks and threats, and is a key pillar for reinforcing security and stability in GCC countries and the region, as well as protecting national interests and economic resources. The ministers stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination among GCC states to safeguard their achievements and support their progress toward greater security and prosperity.
Al-Budaiwi said joint military action among GCC countries receives special attention and support from their leaders, based on their deep belief in the bonds of unity among GCC states and their understanding of the vital role of the armed forces in protecting the security, stability, sovereignty and safety of GCC nations, and in developing capabilities to meet the aspirations of their peoples. He affirmed the importance of continuing to strengthen GCC cooperation to enhance its ability to deal with current and future challenges and threats.
Al-Budaiwi extended his highest appreciation and gratitude to HH the Amir Sheikh Meshal, Chairman of the current session of the GCC Supreme Council, for his kind patronage, guidance and Kuwait’s efforts in strengthening joint GCC action and achieving the noble objectives of the council. He also expressed sincere appreciation to Sheikh Abdullah for his efforts in chairing the Joint Defense Council, and to the ministry of defense and Kuwaiti armed forces for their support, hospitality and warm reception.
Al-Budaiwi renewed his deep thanks and appreciation for the major role played by the Joint Defense Council in developing GCC joint military cooperation, overcoming obstacles and advancing this cooperation toward its noble and strategic goals. He also underscored the importance of joint military coordination, noting that the recent attacks on Qatar by Iran and Zionist occupation forces served as a wake-up call, highlighting the need for stronger GCC military cooperation, unified coordination and continuous efforts to ensure its success.
