KUWAIT: Kuwait’s Assistant Foreign Minister for GCC and Gulf Affairs, Ambassador Najeeb Al-Bader, on Thursday chaired a high-level Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) senior officials’ virtual meeting, which focused on enhancing cooperation and providing sustained support to Syria. Speaking to KUNA after the meeting, Al-Bader said the discussions reflected the shared responsibility and collective commitment of GCC member states to closely monitor developments in Syria and safeguard regional security. He noted that GCC countries have long played an active role in delivering humanitarian and relief aid to the Syrian people, while adopting firm political positions in support of international efforts to preserve Syria’s unity, sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity.
Al-Bader stressed that the meeting comes as a continuation of previous efforts and in line with the GCC Ministerial Council’s 164th session, hosted by Kuwait in June, which underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation with Syria. The participating states reiterated their determination to work with regional and international partners to enhance economic, developmental, and investment cooperation with Syria, with the aim of rebuilding institutions, reviving social life, and alleviating the suffering of the Syrian people. — KUNA
