KUWAIT: The Insan Charity Association organized its third forum on governance in charitable work on Monday under the theme “Financial Governance in Charitable Work,” held under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, Dr Amthal Al-Huwailah. The event was attended by several ambassadors from GCC and Arab countries, as well as sponsors and supporters of charitable work from both inside and outside Kuwait.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of the forum, Dr Khalid Al-Ajmi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and representative of the patron, highlighted the deep-rooted tradition of charitable work in Kuwait. He said, “Kuwaiti charitable work represents an authentic national heritage embedded in the conscience of Kuwaiti society. Governance is the approach that preserves this heritage, ensures sustainability and guarantees fairness.”
Al-Ajmi added that charitable work in Kuwait has become a way of life, with governance providing the framework that safeguards integrity. He noted that the forum comes at a time when transparency and accountability are crucial to sustaining humanitarian work and maintaining trust between institutions and society. “The State of Kuwait remains a model of institutional charitable work, combining sincere intentions with meticulous management, and compassionate action with sound procedures,” he said.

He affirmed that the Ministry of Social Affairs is committed to advancing governance in the charitable sector by enhancing transparency, developing oversight mechanisms, and expanding digital transformation. This, he said, will strengthen efficiency, discipline, and contribute to achieving Kuwait Vision 2035 in the humanitarian field. Al-Ajmi emphasized that financial governance extends beyond numbers and reports; it is an integrated administrative philosophy rooted in clarity of vision, equitable resource allocation, and sustainable impact. “It represents the lifeline of trust connecting donors to projects and society to the fruits of giving, while protecting the reputation of institutions and Kuwait’s standing internationally,” he added.
Dr Othman Al-Khamis, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Insan Charity Association, said the forum reflects the association’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and financial governance to ensure sustainability and positive societal impact. “Since its establishment in 2019, the association has prioritized best administrative, legal, and financial practices to guarantee efficiency and integrity,” he noted.
Al-Khamis explained that this year’s forum focused on financial governance as a means to strengthen trust between institutions, donors and beneficiaries. The forum’s agenda was divided into two main axes: the theoretical framework of financial governance and its practical institutional applications, with participation from researchers and specialists from Kuwait and abroad.
He stressed the importance of developing modern tools and standards to enhance the administrative and financial performance of charitable organizations and facilitate the exchange of expertise across local and regional entities. “Given the rapid economic and social transformations globally, continuous development of charitable work mechanisms is essential,” he added. Al-Khamis expressed gratitude to the Minister of Social Affairs, Dr Al-Huwailah, the Undersecretary, Dr Al-Ajmi, as well as ambassadors, researchers, and participants, for enriching the forum. He hoped that the forum’s outcomes would advance Kuwaiti charitable work and enhance its humanitarian impact according to the highest standards of financial governance.
Bahrain’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Salah Al-Maliki, praised the forum, describing it as a distinguished gathering that reflects Kuwait’s pioneering role in consolidating the values of giving and humanitarian work. He commended the efforts of Dr Al-Khamis and the Insan Charity Association in enriching the charitable sector and said the forum showcased initiatives that benefit communities both within Kuwait and abroad. This year’s forum addressed the administrative, financial, and legal challenges facing charitable organizations through two sessions: the first on the theoretical framework of financial governance, covering principles and standards, and the second on institutional applications, exploring practical tools and best practices. — KUNA
