KUWAIT: The interior ministry announced on Thursday that Kuwaiti citizens who voluntarily report any illegal additions to their citizenship file, or that of a family member, will be exempt from legal penalties, provided the disclosure is made before the end of the year. In a press statement, the ministry said the reports should be submitted to the General Directorate of Nationality and Travel Documents within the specified deadline.
It explained that the measure is consistent with its approach of allowing individuals to regularize their legal status without facing repercussions, encouraging proactive disclosure and cooperation in a manner that safeguards rights, ensures the integrity of procedures and upholds the law within established legal frameworks. The ministry stressed that all reports will be handled with complete confidentiality, professionalism and responsibility, in accordance with applicable legal procedures, guaranteeing the rights of all parties and serving the public interest.
Meanwhile, Acting Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah praised the men and women personnel of the interior ministry for their dedication and professionalism in carrying out their security duties, describing them as a strong shield protecting the nation and safeguarding its security and stability.
