KUWAIT: Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Army Maj Gen Pilot Sabah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah emphasized on Wednesday the importance of continuously updating training programs in line with global military developments to enhance the army’s ability to perform field tasks with efficiency and professionalism.
In a statement, the General Staff said this came during the Deputy Chief’s field visit to the Land Forces Institute and the Corps of Engineers, where he reviewed their missions, technical support roles and major development projects aimed at strengthening engineering capabilities within the land forces.
Maj Gen Sabah stressed that the military places top priority on training and qualification, based on the belief that building a soldier equipped with knowledge and skills is the foundation of boosting the army’s combat readiness. He expressed his appreciation for the progress achieved in curricula and training programs, praising the institute’s contributions in preparing members of the land forces in particular, and the army in general. He noted that these efforts reflect the army’s commitment to investing in human capital as its true strategic asset.
He highlighted the crucial role of the Corps of Engineers as a vital arm of the army, noting that their continuous development ensures advanced engineering capabilities to meet diverse challenges. He also commended their support for field operations and provision of integrated engineering solutions that keep pace with evolving military environments.
During his tour, Maj Gen Sabah inspected specialized training courses, listened to a detailed briefing on the institute’s readiness to receive female recruits, and reviewed plans to provide a suitable learning and training environment. He was also briefed on the mechanisms used to develop the combat and technical skills of officers, NCOs and soldiers, in order to raise combat readiness and overall efficiency of the armed forces.
The visit also included a detailed presentation by the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) unit showcasing the latest techniques and equipment used in mine clearance, as well as a tour of the Corps of Engineers museum, which displays a collection of mines and munitions. — KUNA
