KUWAIT: The fourth Kuwait International Conference on Life Sciences kicked off Tuesday under the theme “Towards Resilience and Sustainability through Innovation.” Organized by the College of Life Sciences at Sabah Al-Salem University City, the two-day event aims to promote collaboration among researchers and institutions across diverse scientific disciplines and countries. In his opening remarks, Dr Ahmed Al-Lafi, Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences at Kuwait University, said the conference “brings together a select group of minds who believe that science is the path to progress and advancement.”
He emphasized that academic gatherings such as this “are not merely forums for presenting research, but platforms for dialogue and exchanging expertise across various disciplines and nations.” Dr Al-Lafi noted that the participation of distinguished scholars and researchers reflects their shared belief in the vital role of science in shaping the future. He added that the College of Life Sciences is proud to host this event and hopes it will lead to innovative ideas and productive research partnerships.

For his part, Dr Qassem Saleh, Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee, said this year’s theme highlights the role of innovation in advancing resilience and sustainability. He revealed that the scientific program features around 65 oral presentations and 60 poster sessions addressing the conference’s four main themes, in addition to 12 keynote speakers and invited guests from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Jordan, Qatar, and Kuwait. Three specialized workshops will also be held to discuss emerging and pressing scientific topics.
Dr Saleh explained that the accepted papers have been organized into four tracks: environmental sciences, food science and nutrition, communication sciences and disorders, and information science and artificial intelligence. He expressed hope that the event would foster both professional and personal connections among participants, paving the way for long-term scientific cooperation. He extended his appreciation to Kuwait University Director Dr Dina Al-Maim for her support and sponsorship of the conference, and to the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) for its continued support of scientific research and innovation in the country. — KUNA
