KUWAIT: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Monday chaired a ministerial committee meeting at Bayan Palace to follow up on the implementation of agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed between Kuwait and China. The meeting reviewed progress on 25 development projects under the Kuwait-China framework, including cooperation on Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, electrical power systems, renewable energy development, low-carbon waste recycling, housing projects, wastewater treatment infrastructure, free and economic zones, as well as initiatives in environmental protection, afforestation and combating desertification.
His Highness directed the committee to accelerate the implementation of major projects in line with Kuwait’s comprehensive development drive under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He stressed the importance of completing projects on schedule and in accordance with modern international standards, in close coordination with the Chinese government.

Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and committee rapporteur Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat said three official Chinese delegations are expected to visit Kuwait in early September to push bilateral cooperation forward in construction, renewable and clean energy, and environmental initiatives, including afforestation and desertification control.
The meeting was attended by Head of the Prime Minister’s Diwan Abdulaziz Dakhil Al-Dakhil, Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Mohammed Al-Mashaan, Minister of State for Municipal and Housing Affairs Abdullatif Hamed Al-Mishari, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr Sabeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Ateeq Al-Majed, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense Sheikh Dr Abdullah Meshaal Mubarak Abdullah Al-Sabah and Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat. — KUNA
