KUWAIT: Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali said on Monday that the country is experiencing cold and humid weather conditions, accompanied by reduced horizontal visibility and, in some areas, zero visibility due to fog formation, beginning tonight. Al-Ali told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps and numerical forecast models indicate Kuwait is being affected by an extension of a surface high-pressure system from the northeast. This system is bringing a cold and humid air mass, along with light to moderate southeasterly to variable winds ranging between 6 and 28 kilometers per hour.
He noted that fog is expected to form in several areas, leading to a reduction in horizontal visibility to less than 1,000 meters and possibly to zero in some locations from tonight. Al-Ali added that weather conditions will be generally cool during the daytime and cold at night. Maximum temperatures today are expected to range between 15 and 21 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are forecast to fall between 4 and 14 degrees Celsius.
Winter clothes distributed
In another development, the Kuwaiti Association for Needy Families organized a winter clothing distribution campaign on Monday targeting resident workers across the country, as part of its efforts to promote the values of solidarity and compassion and to reflect Kuwait’s longstanding charitable and humanitarian traditions. Around 500 residents benefited from the initiative, which provided essential winter supplies, including blankets and other basic necessities.
The campaign aimed to ease living burdens during the colder season while reinforcing a sense of care and social responsibility toward vulnerable segments of the community. The success of the campaign was supported by the cooperation of the Ministry of Education, which allocated a school as a venue for the distribution. This arrangement ensured an organized and suitable environment, enabling aid to reach beneficiaries smoothly and efficiently. – KUNA
