KUWAIT: The Cabinet held its weekly session on Tuesday at Bayan Palace under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi updated the Cabinet on preparations for the French Super Cup, set for Thursday at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium. The match will feature French league and cup champions Paris Saint-Germain against league runners-up Marseille.
Al-Mutairi emphasized the coordination among all relevant authorities to ensure the event runs smoothly. “We are committed to presenting this global sporting carnival at the highest organizational standards, reflecting Kuwait’s vibrant, modern image,” he said. The Ministry of Information has arranged full media coverage, while multiple coordination meetings have been held with the Kuwait Football Association and committee members to ensure smooth operations.
In another briefing, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalifa Al-Ajeel presented results from a field inspection last Thursday with Public Works Minister Dr Noura Al-Mashaan and Minister of State for Municipality and Housing Affairs Abdullatif Al-Meshari. The briefing focused on new locations for mobile food trucks.
Al-Ajeel said the ministry aims to regulate and redistribute food truck locations through 5,000-square-meter sites across the country. He stressed ongoing monitoring, enforcement against violations, and the application of smart licenses to ensure a fair, sustainable business environment. “Supporting entrepreneurs who comply with regulations is a priority, and protecting their interests remains central to our strategy,” he said. More than 1,100 inactive or non-compliant food truck licenses have been canceled as part of these efforts.
Five new sites will open in January to ensure equitable geographic distribution and easier oversight. The Cabinet was also briefed on Kuwait’s participation in the 56th World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, from January 19-23. Ministers Khalifa Al-Ajeel and Dr Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem will attend sessions and workshops aimed at promoting international cooperation and addressing global economic, political, financial, social and climate challenges. — KUNA
