KUWAIT: Under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Cabinet convened its weekly session on Tuesday at the new T2 terminal of Kuwait International Airport. During the meeting, Cabinet members lauded the speech delivered by His Highness the Prime Minister, as Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to the Second World Summit for Social Development held in Doha last Tuesday.
The summit, themed around comprehensive and sustainable social development, highlighted the importance of strengthening international cooperation and building responsible partnerships to address global challenges and promote community security and stability, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Shareeda Abdullah Saad Al-Maousherji said in a press release. The Representative of His Highness emphasized the summit’s commitment to the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the Program of Action, which laid the foundation for social development and paved the way for the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
He also highlighted Kuwait’s domestic achievements, noting that the country has adopted legislation to uphold human rights, justice, and equitable opportunities, ensuring access to education, healthcare, housing, and a decent standard of living for all citizens. Kuwait’s ongoing humanitarian contributions through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) were also underscored. Established in 1961, the Fund has supported development projects in 107 countries with over $9 billion, reflecting Kuwait’s global humanitarian mission.
His Highness the Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the efforts of Minister of Public Works Dr Noura Al-Mashaan, President of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, and relevant government agencies in advancing the T2 airport project. Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Sabah presented updates on PACA’s major projects, including the aviation safety plan, noting that Kuwait International Airport exceeded the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) comprehensive security audit benchmark in April. He added that ongoing upgrades along airport terminals are in line with world-class standards, with close coordination among authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure timely implementation of the T2 project.
The Cabinet also reviewed a visual presentation by Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi on the launch of Salem, a secure digital health platform for citizens and expatriates. The platform aims to facilitate access to e-health services and medical records, support artificial intelligence applications, and ensure integration across various health systems and relevant government bodies. The meeting concluded with the Cabinet reviewing other agenda items, approving and referring them to the competent ministerial committees for further study. — KUNA
