Western politicians and media are tying themselves up in knots trying to spin the impossible: presenting Israel’s unmistakable war of aggression against Iran as some kind of “defensive” move.  This time there was no rationalising pretext, as there was for Israel to inflict a genocide in Gaza following Hamas’ one-day attack on 7 October 2023.  There was not a serious attempt beforehand to concoct a bogus doomsday scenario – as there was in the months leading up to the US and UK’s illegal invasion of Iraq in 2003. Warren Buffett once predicted that Berkshire Hathaway stock would rise when he eventually steps down. So far, the opposite has happened. Since May 3, when the “Oracle of Omaha” announced his plans to hand over the reins, the stock of his conglomerate has fallen more than 10%, underperforming the S & P 500 by about 15 percentage points. The sell-off partially reflects the so-called Buffett premium, or the extra price investors are willing to pay because of the billionaire’s unmatched record and exceptional capital allocation skills. “I am actually surprised at the magnitude of Berkshire’s underperformance … especially since Buffett…

CNN  —  It’s a big decision, but one where the outcomes get slowly better, either way, every day. President Donald Trump has yet to determine whether to militarily involve the United States on Israel’s side in its six-day old conflict with Iran. But there is only so much further that the fight can escalate. There is a very palpable – and growing – limit on what Tehran can do. Israel has already crossed every red line imaginable in Iran’s diplomatic lexicon. It has bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities, killed so many military leaders the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is on its…

The BBC, Britain’s most powerful media institution, has played a pivotal role in shaping public understanding of Israel’s war on Gaza – and in doing so, has repeatedly chosen to obscure, minimise and sanitise one of the most brutal military campaigns of the 21st century. A comprehensive new report by the Centre for Media Monitoring (CfMM) reveals a damning pattern in the BBC’s coverage of the war: a relentless privileging of Israeli voices, a dehumanisation of Palestinian suffering, and a willful refusal to name – let alone interrogate – the context of occupation, siege and apartheid that underpins this catastrophe.…
