United States international Patrick Agyemang scored his first goal in English football but Derby are still waiting for a home win after they were held 1-1 by Southampton. In an entertaining game full of chances, Adam Armstrong put the Saints ahead before Agyemang pounced late in the first half. Both teams could have won it but for the excellence of the goalkeepers, with Alex McCarthy making outstanding saves to deny Carlton Morris and Andi Weimann.Derby keeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom was also on top form, pulling off a superb save to keep out a Ross Stewart header and denying Tom Fellows late…
Stunning strikes from Jordan James and Abdul Fatawu helped Leicester return to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at Swansea.Wales midfielder James, on loan from Rennes for the season, gave Leicester a 13th-minute lead with his second goal in successive games. For Dawon Matthews, pursuing entrepreneurship has always been a “no brainer.”After he was charged with a felony at age 19, Matthews couldn’t find a job in the corporate world, so he decided to carve his own path, he says.”Once they see a felony behind a person they don’t even care about what credentials you got. You’re just not accepted in that society,” Matthews says. Now, Matthews, 32, currently owns five companies, most notably his successful Houston, Texas food truck, Goodies Soul Kitchen.Born in Philadelphia, Matthews had a “rough start” in life, before his family moved to the metro area borough of Norristown,…
TBILISI, Georgia (AP) — Police in Georgia used water cannons and pepper spray on Saturday to push back protesters who tried to storm the presidential palace, as the South Caucasus country held a municipal election boycotted by the main opposition blocs amid a sweeping crackdown on dissent.Tens of thousands rallied in the capital, Tbilisi, to protest repressive policies by the governing party, Georgian Dream, which they see as trying to pull Georgia away from its democratic aspirations and into Russia’s orbit. They carried Georgian flags and placards supporting membership in the European Union, a cherished goal for many that has been…
When most people prepare for a newborn, they’re focused on baby names, sleep routines, and diapers. As a child life specialist, therapist, and mom of two, I did one other thing early on: I created an email address for each of my kids and started writing to them long before they’d be able to read any of my messages. It’s a time capsule, and one day, they’ll be glad it exists. It was practical to secure email addresses using their names before they were taken. But I also knew the deeper value. Having worked with families facing illness, grief, and loss,…
In 1996, David Risher told Bill Gates he was quitting his management role at Microsoft, then already one of the world’s largest companies with annual revenue of nearly $8.7 billion, to take a job at a “tiny, little bookstore online,” called Amazon.”It wasn’t an entirely rational move,” Risher, who is now CEO of Lyft, admitted on an episode of the Fortune Leadership Next podcast that aired on Sept. 30. Risher served as Amazon’s senior vice president of U.S. retail between 1997 and 2002.In fact, Bill Gates tried to talk Risher out of the move, he said on the podcast, reminding…
In her third attempt, Sanae Takaichi won the Liberal Democratic Party’s (LDP) leadership in convincing and comfortable fashion in a runoff against Shinjiro Koizumi, winning 185 votes to Koizumi’s 156. One lawmaker apparently abstained. She won by a larger margin than Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru won in 2024, when he bested Takaichi by only 21 votes. It will take some time to process the significance and implications of what marks a decisive shift in favor of the LDP right but it can be useful to assess the immediate winners and losers – domestically, at least – in the wake of…

Retail investors’ fear of an “AI bubble” appears to have fallen off after spiking this summer. It could mean the stocks have further to balloon before they ultimately top out. The number of U.S. and worldwide web searches for the term “AI bubble” peaked on Aug. 20 and Aug. 21, respectively, according to Google Trends data spanning the past three years. Searches for the term dramatically outpaced searches for “stock market bubble,” “AI boom” and “crypto bubble” at the time. Peak interest in AI bubble searches came shortly after a Massachusetts Institute of Technology report found that 95% of organizations…
